How to Create your SPEMail Account

When you click the "Register for a new SPEMail account" link below, you will be taken to a new page that will require that you to log in to SPE.org using your existing SPE.org member login. If you do not know your login, you can request it by sending an email to service@spe.org. Be sure to include your full name and date of birth for verification purposes.

Once you have successfully logged in to SPE.org, you may create a new SPEMail account. In the "Login" field, enter the login/email account name of your choice—do not add "@spemail.org". Please note the following when creating your email account:

  • Characters allowed in your email address: alpha characters a-z/A-Z (email addresses are NOT case sensitive), numeric characters (0-9), hyphens ( - ) and underscores ( _ ).
  • Characters not allowed: Special characters such as: ~, !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *. Also, commas (, ), periods ( . ) and spaces are not allowed.
  • Unique name: If you choose an email address that is already in use, you will be notified that you must enter a unique address.

You will then need to enter a password for your email account in the "Password" field. This password can be different than your SPE.org member login, but it is recommended that you use the same password for both SPEMail and SPE.org to reduce any difficulty in remembering two different passwords.

Once you have chosen both a login and password, click the "Create" button. You will then receive a confirmation on the screen informing you that the account has been successfully created. Click "Continue" to advance to the login screen. Enter the "Login" and "Password" and click the "Sign In" button to access your account.

Customizing your SPEMail Account

Once logged in to your SPEMail account (http://www.spemail.org), click the "Options" link located in the upper-right hand corner of the page. From this page, you can modify the following SPEMail settings:

  • Reply name
  • Password
  • Color theme
  • Auto-reply
  • Forwarding
  • Signature
  • External Mail
  • Spam filtering

Accessing your SPEMail Account from a POP3/IMAP Email Client

Any POP3/IMAP email client can be used to access your SPEMail account. When configuring your POP3/IMAP client, you will need to specify www.spemail.org as your POP3/IMAP and SMTP server.
